Practo: Healthy Gaalis (swear words)

Practo: Healthy Gaalis A.K.A Healthy swear words!

A set of illustrations that I worked on in tandem with an ad agency for the client, Practo - an app that helps you find doctors and book appointments right in your city.

The concept the agency team came up with was a funny, er... punny take on famous slangs or abuses in Hindi with the end message that no matter what the situation is, Practo can help you find the right doctor. My job was to create illustrations to match with each slang. My Hindi isn't the best so I'll translate these as best as I can. (Check below each illustration from its translation.)

The creatives were released on Practo's Facebook and Instagram pages.

Suar Ke Bacche: Roughly translates 'Son of a Pig'. What did the poor pig ever do?
Teri Maa Ki Aankh: Your Mom's Eyes. A slightly less offensive version of 'Your mom..' Yeah, all of us hate that one.
Ulloo Ka Patha: Son of an Owl. It basically means you're calling someone a fool. In some cultures, for some reason the 'Ullu', or Owl is considered a stupid bird. Maybe its the eyes - that constantly stunned look?
Kaan ke neeche doon kya?: Roughly translates "Should I give you one below the ear?" Implies smacking someone under the ear. Ouch! I should probably mention it sounds way cooler when you say it in Hindi. I decided to change the visual up a little and make it seem like the ear was getting kicked in the... well, you know.
